Hello!

My name is Aiko, the owner and baker of Akarenga Pan-Ya. I'm excited to share my passion for baking with you through this pop-up, named in honor of my grandparents' old café in Japan, Akarenga, which means "red brick." In Japanese, "pan-ya" refers to a bakery, and I aim to combine my fine dining experience to create elevated, Japanese-inspired baked goods. Somewhere along the way of realizing that for a new business to have a long, unique name may not be ideal, this was shortened to aka pan, which I love because it can be the original shortened red bread meaning or also known as pan being bread in both Japanese and Spanish.

My goal is to bring a unique blend of flavors to my hometown of Austin, where you can indulge in delightful treats that remind me of my roots. To give back to the city that has given me so much, we’ve incorporated an opportunity with each purchase to help feed people through the Central Texas Food Bank.
